About Massasoit School

Massasoit School serves boys and girls, ages 7 - 21 who have serious learning, behavioral and emotional problems. The nature and severity of the issues confronting our students and their families preclude a successful public school experience.

Massasoit School was founded and accepted its first students in 1981. Since that time we have not wavered from our initial mission of serving youths whose lives have been complicated by school failure, and by social, emotional and behavioral problems.  For some students, we are their last hope.  For many more we are their first hope.  The work we do with our students builds the tools and resources they will need as contributing members of society.  This work has the potential to transform non-readers to readers, failures into successes and obstacles into opportunities.

Students, their families and referring public schools benefit from the way our program is organized around specific academic, behavioral and therapeutic interventions.  We excel at uncovering the potential in children who previously believed there was none. We believe it is not enough to provide a respite from the public schools but to unlock the keys to success, insight and understanding.  At Massasoit students gain academic knowledge, build communication and problem solving skills, improve self-restraint and achieve success.

Massasoit School takes seriously its responsibility to serve the needs of public schools. We evaluate referrals promptly and incorporate public school input into our service plans. Our entire program is organized around specific academic, behavioral and social-emotinal outcomes that facilitate return to public school.
